Continuing
Education Requirements for Real Estate Brokers and
Salespersons
In August of 2004 the Illinois Department of Financial
and Professional Regulations at the Division of Banks
and Real Estate repealed the real estate continuing
education grandfather exemption for those real estate
brokers and salespersons who had been licensed for
over 15 years prior to January 1, 1992.
Real estate salespersons will be required to take
six hours of continuing education of which three hours
must be in the core curriculum. Previously exempted
real estate brokers will be required to take twelve
hours of continuing education of which six hours must
be in the core curriculum. Read the official notice
